Cutter Comp Right (G42)
Compensates tool to the right of the toolpath.
Definition
Compensates tool to the right of the toolpath. Right compensation offsets the tool center to the right of the programmed contour relative to travel direction.
Formula / Rule
- Activate G42 with a safe lead-in long enough for the control to calculate tool center shift.
- Keep tool radius data current before enabling compensation on production parts.
Typical Range
- Use it for contour finishing and wear adjustment when the tool must stay on the right side of the path.
Shop-floor Scenarios
- Use a linear or arc lead-in before the finished wall.
- Measure the first part and correct wear in the offset table instead of reposting code.
Common Errors / Troubleshooting
- If the controller alarms, check lead-in length, offset number, and active plane.
- If wall size drifts, confirm offset table values, tool wear, and contour direction.
